About Project AERA

AERA (Aerial Event Research Alliance) is a grassroots team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, devoted to helping stargazers become investigators and making it safe, simple, and meaningful for anyone to report, discuss, and document unexplained aerial events. Our doors are open to all: ordinary citizens, lifelong sky watchers, research-minded skeptics, and frontline professionals.

We believe answers begin with honest reporting, practical fieldwork, both traditional and innovative, and careful listening to everyday experiences. Our mission is to deliver the tools, support, and community so anyone, anywhere, can observe, record, and share what they witness, responsibly and accurately. Our privacy policy ensures your data and identity are protected, and we follow established scientific standards for documentation and analysis.

AERA serves members of the public, witnesses, families, sky watchers, and officials, providing responsible, impartial referrals. We work alongside aviation and public safety authorities to ensure credible evidence is accessible for research and safety. Here, you’ll find no hype, no gatekeeping, and no judgment, only a commitment to open science, sincere dialogue, and respectful documentation.

Mission

Our mission is to support experiencers with genuine empathy and professionalism, building trustworthy records for the public, investigators, and authorities. We champion open science, transparent dialogue, and practical education, no closed circles and no barriers to entry.

AERA empowers citizens of every background to explore unexplained aerial events, discuss openly, and contribute meaningful field evidence. You don’t have to navigate insider groups or prove yourself to gatekeepers to be heard. We prioritize clear thinking, self-reliance, and total transparency, working in collaboration with Canadian and international research networks.

There’s no shame in asking questions and no judgment for honest reports. We focus on what’s real, what’s observable, and what can be learned, together. Data matters, and so does the wellbeing of everyone who chooses to share something extraordinary.

Community

AERA is a growing network of observers, researchers, first responders, and anyone ready to engage unexplained phenomena seriously, and always with humility. Whether you’re sharing a sighting for the first time or you’re a returning investigator, your experience is respected.

We promote plain language, fair-minded discussion, and a zero-tolerance policy for ridicule or dismissal. Activities include workshops, forums, meetups, and direct support, ensuring that everyone, from witnesses and sky watchers to professionals in aviation and public safety, is included and heard.

Our bottom line: We study the unknown with logic and respect. No one is above honest questions, and everyone who cares about the truth is welcome. AERA stands ready to help citizens and institutions work together, making discovery and support truly accessible to all.

"AERA believes that learning from each other is essential to understanding the unknown. That’s why we value partnerships with a wide range of experts and enthusiasts, including professional and amateur astronomers, aviators and aviation enthusiasts, outdoor and wilderness explorers, meteorologists, data scientists, engineers, and others with relevant knowledge or investigative experience. By working together, sharing expertise, and connecting across disciplines, we’re able to make our community stronger and ensure that each unexplained aerial event is studied with the best possible insight and care. This collaborative approach helps AERA serve the public with greater accuracy, integrity, and respect for every perspective."
